It's loading...
There are times in life in which you need to quickly and easily pacify your children so that you can get whatever it is that you are doing done without the screaming/crying/fit throwing mayhem that usually happens right when you really don't need it. And I (like all good mothers) fully take advantage of pacifying tools (offering to go to the park/candy/etc) and one of these tools happens to be my IPhone. Both of my children are now fully functional on my phone (the youngest being able to operate it at the age of 9 months) and so now they are now not only able to do tasks on it, but also are proficient in computer jargon.
Well, one day my son and I was at the doctor's office, and we had been waiting in the room for short of eternity when the doctor finally steps in. At this point my son chooses to say he needs to use the bathroom. So I tell the doctor we'll be right back, and off we go to the bathroom. My son gets up on the potty and sits...and sits...and sits some more. At this point I try to urge him to do his business so that we can get back to the room so the doctor won't leave (which would make us have to wait longer.) And then he looks up at me and in all sweetness and earnest says, "But mommy, it's loading." It was at this point that I realized that maybe I had used this particular pacifying tool too many times...
I look at the above picture and realize that it has nothing to do with my story, but I really like that panel, it makes me laugh. Mostly because it reminds me of the goombas from the 1993 Super Mario Bros Movie. (With the big body and small head) If you haven't seen it you're missing out! (hah!)

Ha! That's actually a pretty cute story. I love the way kids come up with cute/funny things like that, but which are completely inappropriate to laugh about in polite company.

And, finally, thanks! I'm so happy to see another ZigZagDon. It's another of many manga & novels that makes me wish I weren't so ADD about learning to read, instead of relying on translations.

ReplyDeleteHe loves my cheap touchscreen phone and laptop and uses them a lot but in the end, they end up on the floor. Every single time. Why?

ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love the old Super Mario Brothers movie. It wasn't until I was much older that I was "told" that this was a terrible movie, but nope, it's still a classic for me.
